Exciting Announcement: Book Contract with Baker Books
I am thrilled to announce that I've just signed a contract with Baker Books to publish my upcoming book titled Dad-Deprived: Understanding the Consequences of Fatherlessness and Solutions for Change. This project has been a labor of love, rooted in a deep concern for the growing epidemic of fatherlessness and its consequences on society. Rather than a typical "how to" guide for fathers, this book seeks to shed light on the structural and institutional factors that either support or hinder fatherhood. It will emphasize the irreplaceable role fathers play in nurturing a healthy society through joyful, dedicated fathering.
In Dad-Deprived, I introduce the term "dad-deprivation" to describe not just absent fathers but also those physically present who may not be actively engaged in parenting. This distinction is vital to understanding how fatherlessness, whether economic, emotional, or physical, can significantly impact everything from education outcomes to teen mental health and criminal behavior. The book will explore the societal shifts that have contributed to this crisis, including no-fault divorce laws and the increase in children born outside of wedlock, and offer solutions for change.
As part of this project, over the next year, I’ll be asking survey questions about your experiences as fathers, father-figures, or with fathers in your life. I plan to use some of your thoughts and stories in the book itself, so keep an eye out for these opportunities to contribute.
Thank you for being part of this journey with me, and I’m excited to hear your insights as we dive deeper into this critical conversation on fatherhood.
Below are the chapter descriptions. The book is intended to provide resources and recommendations for churches, parachurch ministries, and non-profits on how to engage and reach men in their communities.
